LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Teenagers are nearing the end of the school year, and a federal program is preparing to assist them in finding jobs.

Workforce Solutions for South Texas is promoting its Summer Paid Work Experience program, which offers teens practical, hands-on work experience.

To qualify for the program, students must be between 16 and 24 years old and registered in a government assistance program, such as CHIP or Medicaid.

According to Grethel Lopez with Workforce Solutions for South Texas, “It’s based on low-income, so as long as they’re receiving the TANF, SNAP or free lunches in the school, any of the ones we have on the list, they’re eligible.”

If you are interested in the program, you can submit a registration form aquí.
