LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Red, White and You: it’s a call to action for all south Texas veterans that are looking for a job.
On Monday morning, Workforce Solutions of South Texas announced they will be hosting a virtual job fair for veterans and their families.
Statewide, the rate of unemployed veterans stands at around 8.3%, and locally it is about the same or more according to statistics offered by the Texas Veterans Leadership Program.
With Veterans Day coming up Nov. 11, Workforce Solutions for South Texas is preparing an event to assist veterans with the “Hiring Red, White & You” job fair scheduled for Nov. 5.
The event will help veterans find jobs and transition from service live into the civilian workforce. Spouses of veterans are also encouraged to participate.

WorkForce Solutions will be hosting a Virtual Job Fair Wednesday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Some of the organizations that will be hiring are Ashley Furniture Home Store, GCAM, All Valley Pop a Lock, along with several others.
Many things have gone virtual during the COVID-19 pandemic, and seeking a job is no exception. Workforce Solutions of South Texas will host a virtual job fair on Wednesday, Sept. 9 providing an opportunity for many job seekers to network with local companies.
In July, even as COVID-19 reached and remained at its zenith in Laredo, the area’s unemployment rate managed to recover a little from the month before; about 1,300 more people became employed, and the unemployment rate dropped from 9.8% to 9.1%.

On Wednesday, August 12, South Texas WorkForce Solutions will be hosting its first virtual job fair for this month that will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Earlier this month, Workforce Solutions for South Texas’ one-stop workforce center moved from their location on Saunders Street to 1406 Jacaman Road.
However they are still not accepting walk-in visits from the public during this time.

Currently, Workforce Solutions has been offering their services virtually and they hope that by July they will be working out of a new building.
